What happens when you are met with disappointment after disappointment? You learn that life is not about the misfortunes, but rather how you choose to handle those misfortunes.

After a long (emotional) phone call with my aunt, centered around [insert small tech company] laying off 3% of our company, we came to the conclusion that now is the time I should seriously consider using this ~time off~ wisely. Anyone who knows me knows that in a perfect world, I’d have a dream job as a talk show host interviewing some of my favorite artists and helping give a platform for up-and-coming artists.

So why haven’t I been able to be consistent? If you read my ‘About Me’ section, I delve into all of the false starts and all the excuses I’ve made for not choosing a reason to truly bet on myself. While losing three family members (one being a parent), graduating into a pandemic, and struggling to find a job that pays me my worth during a shit job market aren’t exactly simple excuses, they are crutches I’ve used to find a reason to underdeliver or not even deliver at all (shout out to all the unedited and unpublished interviews that live on my laptop).

So here’s to me beginning again - an Aries’ favorite thing to do. Here are the Unemployed Diaries. A series that centers around music and what tracks become the soundtrack to this very interesting time of my life. Happy listening and Spotify listeners - apologies in advance.
